James Dent Walker Chapter

Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc., James Dent Walker Chapter, Washington, DC (AAHGS-DC) is a non-profit membership organization committed to the history, genealogy, and culture of the African-Ancestored populations of the local DC, national and international community.

AAHGS-DC stresses the importance of history and genealogy by encouraging active participation in recording research and documenting personal family histories.

We strive to make outstanding contributions to the preservation of African American history and genealogy by promoting scholarly research, providing resources for historical and genealogical studies, creating a network of persons with similar interests, and assisting members in documenting their histories.
