The strength of AAHGS as an organization comes directly from the Chapters, like AAHGS-DC, that represent “the feet on the ground.” Chapters meet regularly to share historical information, conduct local projects, and bring local researchers together to promote the AAHGS mission.
AAHGS was founded in Washington, DC in 1977 and the first chapter was chartered in Columbia, MD in 1989. Each year since then, new chapters have been chartered in new locales. Presently, there are 31 chapters in 20 states and the District of Columbia.
AAHGS-DC is pleased to welcome three new sister Chapters to the AAHGS family.
